These two tutorials will discuss the workflow and techniques behind studio lighting for shiny reflective objects. Lighting reflective objects is all about specular reflections. This is because the diffuse color on most metals would appear black. Reflections can come from lights, the studio or flat colored geometry.

Quite often studio lighting is a process of trial and error. It involves moving lights and reflectors around until they are reflected nicely in your object. This tutorial aims to give you some ideas to think about where they should be placed in advance.

Some of the topics discussed in setting up the Corkscrew are not repeated in the Pen tutorial, which follows straight after. It is therefore recommended you start with the Corkscrew tutorial from the beginning.
