This shader is now deprecated and will be removed in a future release. You should instead use thin_film in the standard_surface shader.
This shader reproduces the effect of thin film interference on a surface. It can be linked to the specular or reflection color of a standard shader with the fresnel option disabled (the shader does its own fresnel calculations).
Thin film shader connected to Specular Glossy of Standard shader
The minimum thickness of the thin film, in nanometers.
The maximum thickness of the thin film, in nanometers.
Defines the actual thickness of the film between the specified min and max thickness values. Normally this would be something like a noise map to give some variation to the interference effect.
The refractive index of the medium surrounding the material. Normally this is set to 1.0 for air.
The refractive index of the medium that the thin film is made of.
The refractive index of the medium below the thin film.
