This version uses Arnold


  • Transmission component in the hair shader.
  • Support for the Volume primitive as a property and volume_sample shaders added. Mattes now work with volumes as well.


  • Arnold now supports node-locked licences. A node-locked license (.lic) is automatically used if you put the license file in the same folder as the Arnold binaries ( or ai.dll). If you put the license file somewhere else, you must set the solidangle_LICENSE environment variable to point to the location of the license file. The solidangle_LICENSE environment variable can include both RLM servers (in the port@host form) and paths (to folders containing license files, or full paths to specific license files). On Linux, use the colon ( : ) to separate multiple entries, and on Windows, use the semi-colon ( ; ).


  • Prior to SItoA 3.5.0, we applied the Output Gamma value to the display driver as well as to 8-bit output file types (such as JPEG). The Output Gamma value no longer affects the display (Softimage already has proper color management) and the option is now on the Output tab, where it affects the output of JPEG, PNG, and TIFF files only.
