HtoA 1.11.1

25 March 2016

This is bugfix release, with shader enhancements and a silent installer.

Installation
  1. Get the install files on Solid Angle Downloads.
  2. Follow these installation instructions.
Compatibility

This release uses Arnold 4.2.13.3 and OpenVDB 3.0.0.

Binaries available for the following Houdini, Houdini FX or Houdini Education production builds:

  • 15.0.416
  • 15.0.393
  • 15.0.347

and for the following platforms:

  • Linux x86_64 (gcc4.8)
  • Windows 7 x64 (vc11)
  • Mac OS X 10.8+

Please note that Houdini Apprentice and Houdini Indie do not support third party renderers and thus cannot run HtoA.

Enhancements
  • Curvature shader enhancements: You can now choose to output the convex or the concave curvature as grayscale, or both with convex in the red channel and concave in the green channel as before. Additionally, the self_only toggle limits the curvature sampling to the current object, which is much easier to set up than with the trace sets as previously. The parameter tooltips have also been updated and clarified (csp#92)
  • RGBA inputs and outputs for the Mix shader: The mix shader now allows RGBA inputs and outputs. Note that the AOVs are still assumed to be RGB though. (htoa#756)
  • Customizable progressive AA levels: Instead of selecting the negative start AA as before, you can now select individual progressive AA levels for faster feedback. The negative AA levels have been replaced with the more intuitive 8x8, 4x4, 2x2 and 1x1 values, meaning 1 sample for NxN pixels, instead of the previously more obscure -3, -2, -1, 0. (htoa#585)
  • Command line extraction for silent installs: The HtoA installer now supports the --extract and --extract-to command line options to extract the installation contents without using the graphical installer. You still need to review accept the license before extraction, by either answering "yes" at the command line prompt or by using the --accept-license option. Important: By using the --accept-license option, you will accept the end-user license agreement. (htoa#566)
Fixes
  • Fixed trace log crash with missing parameters (htoa#758)

  • Fixed ramp shaders keys stuck (htoa#761)
  • Fixed point instancing crash with empty instance attribute (htoa#762)
  • Fixed automatic TX conversion when the <attr:> token in an Image shader filename is a full path to a TX file (htoa#757)
  • Multilayer EXR should properly output INT AOVs when other types are present. (core#5157)

  • Crash with volumes when light volume_samples is zero (core#5173)
  • Deep EXR driver: fix uninitialized variables (core#5179)
  • Deep EXR driver: uniform treatment of layer attributes (core#5192)
  • EXR driver: autocrop corrupts the image when HALF AOVs are present (core#5191)
